FM2012 Review Part 1

Google bookmark digg del.icio.us stumbleupon

With reviews its easy to just pick out the new features from the list provided but in this particular review I am going to simply, pick up the game, and whatever I find first ill write about! This review will be split into a number of reviews as there is too much to cover in one so read on and let me know what you think.

With all Football Manager releases its a bit daunting as this game isn't what it used to be, there is simply so many features to the game as a whole I simply don't know how they fit it all in and work so well! The first area of the game is no different, setup your game as you normally would, I pick same leagues and countries everytime so that was done in a few seconds.

First thing you get greeted with is the Homepage for your current career and whats weird is I cannot figure out if its bigger, I think they have added a new panel there...? Either way its nicely pushed into the screen, tones of info there!

Now the first real function I undertake is setting up what my assistant manager etc can do, because to be honest I never play the friendlies (in this case I will). and I noticed a few new things there.

- Manage youth intake. - This was a new option to select for Assistant managers so this must mean you get more say here, yet to be revealed...

- Allowed extended leave. Not sure if you can cancel the leave here, again will have to wait and see.
- International instructions. Again as no orders there not sure if can be changed, otherwise whats point in this?

At this point im scouting around for new features to the game and im instantly hit with how much better the design actually is, in fact it cannot get much better, big props to the guys who designed this, clearly its been tweaked over the versions but I don't think they could do much better.

This brings me into my next task as manager of Arsenal, my favourite team! We need a striker! So im off for a scouting session. So I open up the transfer screen to find a player and again its been tweaked from a visual point of view, see below.

What you see is not so much loads of new features but more a tidy up of the interface and its good, very good, all information there in front of you to help you find the right player, but the highlight from the interface point of view is how much easier and less fidley it is to setup filters for attributes, again see image to see what I mean.

So I placed my bids and move onto my next task, tactics...ok im going to leave this one to part 2, some changes there.

One last thing to mention would be the big feature I was amazed to see on the list of new features for the game when the press releases came out, add/remove leagues while in game. I was suprised as I didnt understand how it could work and I will be testing this in my game for sure and will report back on my findings, but here is the screen where you do it and its pretty straight forward.
